Year 8 Super Learning Day

Super Learning Day

Year 8 pupils took part in a Super Learning Day on Tuesday 1 December. The theme of the day was to plan, design and create a clothing brand aimed at 12-16 year olds to be sold in Urban Outfitters.

Pupils worked in teams of 4 or 5 in order to make this idea a reality. Each group was provided with a plain white t-shirt and an accessory kit of which they could customise these in any way possible to add value to the product. Pupils then presented their idea to the rest of the tutor group.

The best 2 teams from each tutor group then presented their idea to the rest of the year group and a set of 6 judges including Headteacher, Mr Gale and Head of Business, Mr Murtaza. After the presentations the teams took questions from the judges and other members of the audience to which they all responded faultlessly. After a long deliberation and many possible winners the judges decided that 2nd place would go to the ‘Chica’ team with the winners being the ‘Eye Sight’ team.

Well done to all the teams which took park in the day which gave pupils the chance to showcase new skills and learn many transferrable competencies such as project and time management, team work, public speaking, organisation, production methods, self-confidence plus many more.
