Timetable for the day – workshops

20 March 2017

Dear Parent/Carer

Year 10 and Year 12 Careers Day – Thursday 30 March 2017

This year our Careers Day for Year 10 and Year 12 pupils has been organised with more information for your child and a wider choice of careers.

I am including a programme about the day, with a short overview about the workshops available to help your child make their choices. You will notice that we have a number of exciting workshops programmed at different times throughout the morning – all run by career professionals that can give accurate advice and a true experience of what a career in their field is really like. Not all workshops are available for every session and therefore it is important to plan out which workshop your child would like to book into, taking into account when they are running. Most workshops are 30 minutes, with some lasting 1 hour. If you choose an hour long workshop you must choose this for both sessions.

To make organising the day more efficient, we are asking our pupils to make online choices from a booking site. If you would like to talk to your child about their workshop choices you are more than welcome to complete the online registration at home. For pupils preferring to complete this in school they will be given time in their ICT lessons over the next week to complete the registration. The deadline for workshop bookings will be Friday 24 March. Any pupil who has not completed a registration by this time will have appropriate workshops chosen for them.

After Easter there will be an opportunity for pupils to complete a short evaluation form which will help us to plan future careers events, and to find out what further assistance your child needs to ensure they take the correct steps for their future career. Included in this pack are details on how to book onto the workshops and also how to complete the evaluation form after Easter.

As this day is an important event for your child’s future, with professionals attending from a number of industries, and to enable them to focus on the day in a business-like and professional manner, all pupils should wear full school uniform for the day.

Thank you for your support for this event. I am sure pupils will find the day inspiring. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Sloan at school.

Yours sincerely
