Section 1 - Careers
Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) at Colonel Frank Seely starts in Year 7 and continues through to sixth from. When our students leave at the end of either Year 11 or 13, they will have the skills, attributes and confidence to make informed decisions. We encourage them to follow the career pathway that best suits their individual needs and aspirations, allowing them to thrive and fulfil their true potential.
All students are provided with independent and impartial guidance and will engage in a variety of experiences, which will stretch their capabilities and help them to explore the wider world of work. We will help them to understand how to make option choices, which can link to a range of careers. We have a dedicated Careers Leader, offering impartial advice and guidance, as well as carefully selected resources and opportunities, which are tailored to individual groups.
Our careers programme is delivered through a varied range of provision, such as, inspirational employer speakers, PSHE, educational trips to business organisations and universities, apprenticeship and FE talks, themed events, tutor topics and subject activities.
Students have access to high quality information and specialist advice about future study options and labour market information. This helps to raise aspirations, research ideas for careers and gain an understanding of local and national jobs, as well as current trends.
If you have any questions regarding careers information, please contact our careers team.

Gatsby Benchmarks
Colonel Frank Seely Academy uses the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks to structure, implement and evaluate the careers programme offered to students.
Career Development Framework
The Career Development Institute has identified the six career development skills that people need to have positive careers.
These six skills are the learning areas that career development programmes and interventions should focus on. Colonel Frank Seely Academy uses the New Career Development Framework to help design and implement our careers programme.

Colonel Frank Seely Academy recognises and strongly encourages meaningful interactions between our students and employers in order to provide the next generation of talent with the knowledge, understanding, and skills needed to successfully transition from education to the workplace.
Many of our career events require volunteers who are willing to get involved in a variety of activities, such as:
- Careers Fairs
- Group presentations
- Assemblies
- Networking sessions
- Interviews
- Curriculum talks
If you are interested in volunteering or would like to discuss other ways of engaging with our students, please do get in touch with our Careers Co-ordinator, Amanda Pears (a.pears@cfsacademy.org.uk)
Section 8 - Alumni
Our school would like to establish links with the local community and there is no better way of doing this than through ex–students.
It is well known that young people identify better with others who have been through the same experiences as themselves. You will be able to bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience from different professional fields to help support the development of our current pupils.
You will then be able to join the association of former pupils who, like yourselves, share the same values, memories, and the desire to help today’s students achieve their goals in the future.
We are particularly keen to hear from alumni who can help link our subject-related curriculum in the classroom to the world of work/employment. This could include visiting a class and running or supporting a lesson, for example.
If you would like to be part of our campaign and share your story with our current students, please complete the form below:
Section 9 - Personal Careers Guidance
What is personal career advice and guidance?
- An opportunity to speak to an impartial career guidance professional about your education, interests, aspirations and support needs.
- A chance to ask questions and check your understanding of your options, course entry requirements and different qualification levels available.
- Receive advice on what resources will help you to independently research your options, including up-to-date labour market information and guidance on how to use these effectively.
- Dedicated time to developing a tailored action plan that will help you move forward towards education, training or future employment.
