Students
At Colonel Frank Seely Academy, we take pride in being a small school with a strong sense of community and high expectations for all our students. Our pastoral care is central to the school experience, ensuring that every young person feels supported, inspired, and challenged to achieve their very best – both now and in the future.
Each student at Colonel Frank Seely Academy is placed into one of our three houses: Dean, McKenzie, or Whitehead. This house system fosters a sense of belonging and friendly competition through inter-house activities and events, while also providing excellent pastoral care. The relationships students build within their houses extend beyond the classroom, as they become part of a close-knit, supportive network that encourages personal and academic growth.
Our vertical tutor groups are an integral part of our pastoral care. These smaller groups, which are composed of students from different year groups, allow for mentoring and peer support in a way that larger teaching groups cannot. The mixture of year groups creates a family-like atmosphere, where older students act as role models and offer guidance to younger peers, ensuring everyone has someone to turn to. The tutor groups have been described as “smaller families within a larger family,” emphasising the strong bonds and sense of belonging that we nurture.
In these groups, tutors work closely with students, providing bespoke care and guidance tailored to their individual needs. This personal attention helps to ensure that every student receives the support they need to thrive academically and emotionally. By fostering positive relationships and creating a structured environment, we equip our students with the skills, resilience, and confidence to succeed in their future endeavours.
At Colonel Frank Seely Academy, we believe that every student deserves to feel valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
