24 July 2018
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we come to the end of our year at Colonel Frank Seely Academy, I would like to thank you all for your continued support for the school and share with you the arrangements for the first day back in September.
Arrangements for the first day of the new academic year for students:
Wednesday 5 September 2018
Year 7: Arrive at 8.50am and go directly to the Main Hall.
Year 8-11: Arrive at 8.50am and go directly to Tutor Rooms.
Year 12 and 13: Enrolment at 8.50am on Wednesday 5 September.
Mobile phone policy
Having reviewed our mobile phone policy, we believe that we can positively encourage our children to be better-rounded, articulate, sociable individuals who don’t have to rely on screens and/or headphones. From September our policy will be that mobile phones will not be allowed to be used during the school day (including at break and lunch times). If they are seen during these times, they will be confiscated. If this scenario reoccurs, more serious sanctions will be applied. For some students, it may be worth considering purchasing a watch to tell the time or referring to clocks around the school.
All students at Colonel Frank Seely Academy, from Year 7 to Year 11, wear uniform. The wearing of a uniform makes an important contribution to the tone and reputation of the academy. We like students to come here looking smart and business-like and ready to work. If you are replacing uniform for your child during the summer holidays, please ensure that the items you are purchasing conform to our uniform guidelines. In particular, could you ensure that any trousers and shoes conform to the new Uniform Policy that is in place from September 2018. All pupils are expected to be wearing our branded grey trousers/skirts and these should be purchased from one of our preferred suppliers. Please be aware that sanctions will be put in place for any students returning to school with incorrect uniform.
INSET Days for 2018/19 are: –
Tuesday 4 September 2018
Thursday 4 October 2018
Friday 5 October 2018
Monday 7 January 2019
Friday 28 June 2019
I would also like to thank the governing body for all their hard work and tireless championing of our academy. To the school leadership teams for all their efforts in ensuring students have a school environment that inspires and challenges them. I would also like to thank all the staff – both teaching and support staff – who make this academy, the terrific academy it is and a wonderful place of work and learning.
Congratulations to our students too who deserve to succeed. As the new academic year approaches, I am excited about our journey and making excellence a habit. Your partnership in this journey is so very important and I look forward to continuing to work with you and providing your child with an education they can be proud of.
I wish you all a pleasant and enjoyable summer.
