End of Term letter – Christmas 2017

December 2017

Dear Parents/Carers

We are rapidly approaching the end of yet another year and a very busy term for all associated with Colonel Frank Seely Academy.

Year 11 Mock Exam results

Both students and staff have been focused and have worked hard and can be very proud of their achievements so far. This has been especially true for Year 11 who have just completed the mock exam fortnight. They are now starting to get their results and their mock results will provide the boost they need to go forward confidently into 2018. If they don’t, then lessons need to be learnt quickly and plans put in place to support them. We will be issuing some students with a new timetable in January. These timetables will have a focused period 6, which we would like to make compulsory to enable them to make the necessary improvements to achieve their full potential.

Student Update

Our Year 7 students have settled well into CFS Academy. The transition from primary has been smooth on the whole and they can now navigate themselves successfully around the campus and handle the number of subjects and teachers they face on a weekly basis. All of our students have responded positively to the changes made to tutor groups and our house system.

End of term arrangements

The Academy will close for the Christmas period at 3:15pm on Friday 22 December 2017.

We re-open after the Christmas holiday on Monday 8 January 2018 at 8:50am.

Winter weather arrangements

In the event of any enforced school closure, parents will receive a text message. In addition, it will feature on BBC Radio Nottingham and CFS website.

Can I also take this opportunity to thank you for your support in ensuring that the uniform standards at the Academy are maintained. With many students receiving clothing and jewellery over the Christmas period, can I please remind you to refer to the uniform expectations which are available on the Academy website.   Just to remind you that false nails and nail polish are also prohibited in school.

In the New Year, we will continue to ensure our students are prepared and ready to fulfil their learning potential.

I am also pleased to announce that Adrian Persuad and Lee Neal have been appointed Parent Governors and both Mrs Chaplain and Mrs Garment appointed Staff Governors.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

Colonel Frank Seely Academy
