A Midsummer Nights Dream

Sunday 21 June was an appropriate date for twenty Year 8 pupils from Colonel Frank Seely Academy along with four Sixth Form students and four members of staff to travel to Bradgate Park in Leicestershire for an outdoor performance of Shakepeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
There was plenty of time before the play began to set up rugs and picnics in front of the stage and get settled for the evening’s entertainment. Although it wasn’t always warm, the rain held off and the actors delivered a heart-warming performance of Shakepeare’s best-loved romantic comedy. Students were whisked away on a thrilling journey to the most magical of forests to meet star-crossed lovers, playful fairies and hilarious travelling players.
Year 8 students have been studying the play in their English lessons this term, so this midsummer production by Chapter House Theatre Company was the perfect opportunity for students to see the play in performance and enhance their study.
